[Gangnam] Visit Cafe in Gangnam – Chunhwadang Tea Room (춘화당)

If this is your first time visiting Seoul, you might want to go to Gangnam because of Psy’s song – “Oppa Gangnam Style”. I once brought my friend to Gangnam to introduce this area to him. We got really tired of walking and wanted to stop by a cafe to take a rest. However, I realised that I didn’t know any nice cafe in Gangnam! How can there be no nice cafe in Gangnam, right? Since then, I occasionally search for cafes in Gangnam on Instagram and save the post so that I can visit the cafe whenever I go to Gangnam.

FYI, I am a coffee person but I love milk tea too. Recently, I saw some photos about a tearoom in Gangnam area on Instagram and decided to give it a try.

Chunhwadang (춘화당) Tea Room is hidden in the housing area behind Gangnam main street. It is nearer to Sinnonhyeon Station, and maybe just 15mins walk from Gangnam Station. This tea cafe has European-style interior with some antique and vintage decor. Suitable for friends or couples who want to chill and have a relaxing time after meal.

You can find many types of tea (including classic tea, flavoured tea, herbal tea) and of course, coffee is available too. Check out the menu below.

I ordered milk tea and scone. I think the scone was pretty good and milk tea was not too sweet so I liked it too. I visited this cafe around 4pm on a weekday and it was quite empty. I managed to get a seat in front of this cute fireplace heater which makes me feel like I am having afternoon tea in Europe. ^^

If you are a tea person and looking for a tea cafe in Gangnam, do visit Chunhwadang Tea room!

For easy travel in Korea:

Seoul City Tour Bus

Recently, my friend who will be coming to Korea for vacation sent me a message asking about Seoul City Tour Bus. Actually, I knew about the city tour bus in Seoul and have seen the buses going around the city, but I have only tried City Tour Bus in Gangjin and Busan, but not Seoul. So, I have decided to give it a try!

Last weekend, I went on Seoul City Tour Bus together with 2 friends (Mavis and Rufus). Three of us have been living in Seoul for at least 2 years, but none of us have taken this city bus before. Such an exciting adventure! It was a great day to explore Seoul last Saturday – Clear sky and not-too-hot. 🙂 Perfect day for an outing with friends.

First of all, there are a few courses for Seoul City Tour Bus:

  1. Downtown Palace Course
  2. Panorama Course
  3. Night Course (Bus doesn’t stop at any location)
  4. Around Gangnam City Tour Course

Types of buses:

  1. 1-storey bus
  2. Double-decker Open Top bus
  3. Trolley bus

We managed to ride all three of the buses. Trolley bus is so cute!! I love it. If you’re bringing children, go for this bus. I am sure they will love it.

If you are lazy and don’t wanna spend too much planning your Korea trip, I recommend Seoul City Tour Bus to you! All you need is to hop on to the bus, check the bus routes and get off at the attractions that you want to visit. It is easy and convenient. Just sit in the bus, and enjoy the beautiful view of Seoul city. 🙂

Things to take note:

  • Doesn’t operate on Mondays (Some exceptional cases, please refer to their website)
  • You can either buy the ticket at Gwanghwamun Station (the first stop), or any other location (buy it from the driver when you hop on the bus)
  • You can hop on and off, so please keep the ticket with you.
  • If you transfer from Panorama Course -> Around Gangnam Tour Course, you can get some discounts for Gangnam Tour ticket. (We got KRW2,000 discount, yay!)
