[Jeju] Top 5 Must-Visit Cafes in Jeju Island

What comes into your mind when someone talks about Jeju Island?
Pretty scenery? Beautiful beaches? Yummy abalone? Big Bang G-Dragon’s cafe?

If you love traveling in Korea, I believe you have been to Jeju Island. Jeju Island, known as the “Hawaii of Korea”, is the largest and most famous island in South Korea. There are many things to do in Jeju Island: hiking the tallest mountain in Korea, visiting clean and beautiful beaches, eating cheap seafood and delicious black pork bbq, and (of course, not forgetting) exploring unique cafes.

I have been to a few cafes with very great view in Jeju Island, and have also seen photos of other beautiful cafes taken by my friends. Here is the Top 5 must-visit cafes in Jeju Island that I would like to recommend to you.

#1 BOMNAL CAFE (카페 봄날)

Jeju Bomnal Cafe

Cafe Bomnal in Jeju

“Bomnal”, literally means spring day in Korean, is a very famous seaside cafe located in Aewol town, close to Handam coastal trail and Gwakji Gwamul beach. You can choose to chill in the cozy environment (indoor seating area) or enjoy the beautiful view outdoor. Not forgetting that there are some photo spots outside the cafe, which has turned it into an instagrammable cafe in Jeju Island. This is also one of the filming locations of 2015 Korean drama entitled “Warm and cozy”.

Cafe Monstant Aewol, located very near to Bomnal Cafe in Aewol, is the must-visit cafe for all G-Dragon’s fans (I’m sure you want to support GD Oppa ^^). What makes this cafe special is that you can enjoy the spectacular sea view through the huge glass window from the cafe, and the building is very instagrammable from outside. It is recommended to come here in the evening to enjoy sunset.

Cafe Gongjaksoo is another cafe with great view and this is my favourite cafe in Jeju! There are some props opposite the cafe where you can take photos. You will also find some korean words written on the window of the cafe and it looks really cool to take photos from the cafe (refer to the photo below).  Any photos taken in Cafe Gongjaksoo can definitely make it to your Instagram feed!

Previously, I took bus #701 from Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal to get to this cafe. From 2017, the bus number changed to #201. (Tips: After visiting the cafe, I took the same bus to Seongsan ilchubong sunrise peak).

Cafe De Seoyeun (카페서연의집), is the filming location of a famous Korean movie about first love, entitled “Architecture 101(건축학개론)” starred by Suzy, Han Ga-in, Uhm Tae-woong and Lee Je-hoon. This cafe is a two-storey building facing the sea, and you can enjoy very beautiful sea view from the cafe. You can also find many props and posters from the movie. If you have watched the movie, you may be interested to drop by this cafe! Even if you did not watch the movie, I would still recommend you to visit this cafe to enjoy a quite, relaxing and peaceful afternoon in Jeju.

This cafe is a famous place for pre-wedding photo shoot among Koreans. Not just for pre-wedding photo shoot, anyone who loves taking photos would definitely love this place. The cafe is designed and decorated in European-style that makes you feel like you are in Europe. In addition, you can rent a dress and wander around to take some portrait shots. Every corner is a photo zone! Be prepared to spend about 1-2 hours at this place.
